Hello! My name is Caitlyn Liu.
I am an artist in the Bay Area. My art is a culmination of storytelling, personal reflection, and a search for joy in the mundane. Preferred mediums are colored pencils and acrylic paint, but periodically explore pottery and digital art.
Currently, I reside in the Bay Area with my husband and two munchkin cats. Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood, I nurtured this love for art. I taught myself various art skills like drawing, painting, sewing, and animation.
In 2022, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan’s Taubman College. My time at Taubman furthered my understanding of form and storytelling through static images. Following an architecture degree, I worked for a firm on Major League sports facilities. My responsibilities encompassed researching code ordinances, visualization, 3-d modeling, presentation, and documentation.
However after looking for meaning in my work, I realized I hungered to go back to my roots: to create art for the individual. I am inspired by others' experiences and joys and I strive to capture its singularity.
